"Lucky for me, my Rotary club is full of leaders committed to our Galveston community." ~Jason Hardcastle
Back in 2016, when I agreed to start the process to become Galveston Island Rotary President for the 2018-19 year, I never imagined how many changes I would experience between then and now.  Through a career change, the birth of my second daughter, Holdyn, and an election to City Council, I continued to prioritize my commitment to Galveston Island Rotary.  Therefore, with just over a week left of my presidency, I have to admit, I am a bit relieved.

Lucky for me, my Rotary club is full of leaders committed to our Galveston community.  With several unexpected departures from our club this year, primarily from long time members, I am proud to say we still maintained growth, adding 10 new members.  With such a high percentage of members who hold prominent leadership positions throughout our community, I am not surprised that we continue to grow despite consistent challenges.  Our community service focus was accelerated this year, increasing from quarterly to monthly to weekly projects.  Our annual fundraiser, despite undergoing a major transition, reached our financial goals.

I look forward to where our next board, under the leadership of Sam Malchar, will guide our club.  I am confident the momentum, built by the strength of our members, will continue to propel Galveston Island Rotary Club into a promising future.

Yours in Rotary,
Jason Hardcastle
